James started his career in telecoms via an apprenticeship as a Service Technician with Virgin Media in 2009. Since then he has moved through several engineer roles supporting the installation, Maintenance and repair of Virgin Media’s Cable, Telephony and Fibre Network infrastructure. Then a few years back he took a slightly different step and moved into Learning & Development, first as a technical trainer then progressing to Manager of a team of technical trainers.

As the manager of this Learning & Development team, he was responsible for supporting the training requirements across the Technology and Innovation teams including; Network Engineers, IT, Operations teams and the engineering teams responsible for developing and implementing the latest and greatest technologies to keep delivering connectivity to our customers.

James is a massive advocate of apprenticeships and actively supports initiatives to engage, and encourage developing the future of the telecoms industry. He also supported the ITP by delivering several of the family Christmas Lectures in 2019 on the “Age of Big Data”
