2025 - Annual Review


At the ITP, our mission is to support the people behind telecommunications. In 2025, that commitment was reflected in everything we did—from launching new development opportunities for members and expanding our apprenticeship provision, to recognising industry excellence and building stronger partnerships across the sector.

As another successful year draws to a close, we're taking the opportunity to look back at the events, achievements and milestones that made 2025 such an important year for the Institute and our community.

January

Insight Visit to the 6G Innovation Centre: We kicked off the year with an exciting member Insight Visit to the University of Surrey's renowned 6G Innovation Centre, giving members a glimpse into the future of telecommunications.

New Corporate Partners: We were delighted to welcome Chronos Technology, Evolve IP, CRG Tec and HF Comms to the ITP community as Corporate Partners.

Leadership Course Launch: We officially launched the ITP Leadership Course, providing members with a new opportunity to develop the skills needed to lead in a rapidly evolving industry.

ITP & Cluttons Seminar: Together with Cluttons, we hosted an insightful seminar exploring how the telecoms industry can help bridge the digital divide.

National Apprenticeship Week 2025: We proudly celebrated National Apprenticeship Week, highlighting the achievements of apprentices and championing the vital role they play in shaping the future of our industry.

Channel Live: The ITP team attended Channel Live, connecting with industry leaders and discussing the future of telecoms skills and development.

King's Trust Webinar: In partnership with The King's Trust, we hosted a webinar helping aspiring professionals understand how to prepare for a successful career in telecommunications.

New Member Portal Launch: One of the year's biggest milestones saw the launch of our brand-new member portal, providing an enhanced experience and improved access to member benefits and resources.

The Journal: Volume 19, Part 1 of The Journal was published, continuing our commitment to delivering high-quality technical and industry content to members.

New Fellows: Congratulations to John Nolan, Richard Wakerley and Stuart Lyle, who were awarded Fellowship of the ITP.

ITP Telecoms Awards Launch: We officially launched the 18th ITP Telecoms Awards, recognising the outstanding individuals and organisations driving excellence across the industry.

Hands-on RF Workshop: Members took part in an engaging RF workshop hosted by Keysight Technologies, gaining valuable practical insights into radio frequency technologies.

CEO Podcast with Kerry Gilder: Our CEO, Charlotte Goodwill, sat down with Kerry Gilder, CEO of Colt Technology Services, to discuss building a diverse and sustainable workforce for the future of telecoms.

SHiFT Conference: We attended the SHiFT Conference, engaging with industry leaders on key topics shaping the future of connectivity.

Insight Visit to Viasat: Members enjoyed an exclusive visit to Viasat HQ, exploring the latest developments in satellite communications and connectivity.

New Fellows: Congratulations to Asa Caton and Denis Coakley on achieving Fellowship of the ITP.

New Corporate Partners: We welcomed CallTower and Cluttons as Corporate Partners.

Training Provider Status Achievement: A major milestone for the Institute saw us awarded training provider status by the Department for Education to deliver the Level 4 Cellular Network Field Engineer (CNFE) apprenticeship standard.

Keysight & NPL 6G Technology Workshop: We partnered with Keysight Technologies and the National Physical Laboratory for a specialist workshop exploring the future of 6G technologies.

MATS Conference: The ITP team attended the MATS Conference, continuing to strengthen relationships across the telecoms ecosystem.

First CNFE Apprentices Begin: We proudly welcomed the very first cohort of apprentices onto our Level 4 Cellular Network Field Engineer apprenticeship programme.

New Fellows: Congratulations to John Duncan and David Hawthorne on becoming ITP Fellows.

New Corporate Partner: We welcomed Innovatus Telecom Services to the growing ITP Corporate Partner community.

UK Fibre Awards Finalist: We were thrilled to be shortlisted for Best Training and Development Programme at the UK Fibre Awards.

The Journal: Volume 19, Part 2 of The Journal was published, featuring technical insights, industry developments and member contributions.

New Fellows: Congratulations to Guy Arnel and Jeff Carlton on achieving Fellowship.

New Corporate Partner: We welcomed KLK Solutions as a Corporate Partner.

Comms Council UK Summer Forum: The ITP presented at the Comms Council UK Summer Forum, sharing insights on skills development and the future workforce.

International Women in Engineering Day: We celebrated International Women in Engineering Day, recognising the achievements and contributions of women across our industry.

Career Guidance Webinar: We hosted our partner webinar, From Classroom to Career: A Telecoms Technology Career Guide for Advisors of Future Talent, helping educators and advisors better understand opportunities within telecoms.

UK Fibre Awards Winners: We were delighted to win the award for Best Training and Development Programme at the UK Fibre Awards - a fantastic recognition of our commitment to developing future talent.

King's Trust Awards: Our CEO attended the King's Trust Awards, reinforcing our ongoing commitment to supporting young people entering the industry.

July

ITP & Ofcom Seminar: Together with Ofcom, we delivered a seminar exploring spectrum innovation and the opportunities it presents for the future of telecommunications.

New Corporate Partners: We welcomed United Infrastructure, GTEC Training and Axians as Corporate Partners.

New Fellow: Congratulations to Jay Glover on becoming an ITP Fellow.

Channel Champions Recognition: We were honoured to receive a Highly Commended award in the Apprentice Champions category at the Channel Champions Awards.

August

Telecoms Awards Finalists Announced: Excitement built as we announced the finalists for the 18th ITP Telecoms Awards.

Supporting Future Talent: Our Learning & Development Manager, Lauren Holloway, attended NextTechFest 2025, mentoring and inspiring the next generation of telecoms professionals.

New Fellow: Congratulations to Simon Mitchell on achieving Fellowship.

September

Connected Britain: We attended Connected Britain, one of the industry's flagship events, engaging with members, partners and industry leaders.

Team Growth: We welcomed a new team member to the ITP as we continued to grow and strengthen our support for members.

The Journal: Volume 19, Part 3 of The Journal was published.

Second CNFE Cohort: We welcomed our second cohort of apprentices onto the CNFE programme, demonstrating the growing demand for specialist telecoms skills.

New Technical Trainer & Skills Coach: We were delighted to welcome Hayley McConnell to the team as our new Technical Trainer and Skills Coach.

New Fellow: Congratulations to Christopher Searle on becoming an ITP Fellow.

18th ITP Telecoms Awards: One of the highlights of the year, we proudly hosted the 18th ITP Telecoms Awards, celebrating excellence, innovation and achievement across the telecommunications industry.

New Corporate Partners: We welcomed Frednel Commercial Management Services, Clarke Telecom, Clarke Connect and Vorboss as Corporate Partners.

Learning Academy Launch: We officially launched our enhanced Learning Academy, giving members access to hundreds of courses at exclusive discounted rates.

Office Relocation: We successfully moved into new offices, marking an exciting new chapter for the Institute.

New Fellow: Congratulations to Tessa Howlett on becoming an ITP Fellow.

New Corporate Partners: We welcomed Com Group and UpConnect as Corporate Partners.

CNFE Meet & Greet: We hosted our CNFE Meet & Greet event in partnership with Cornerstone at their Theale offices, bringing together apprentices, employers and industry professionals.

December

The Journal: Volume 19, Part 4 of The Journal was published, rounding off another successful year of industry insight and technical content.

New Corporate Partner: We were delighted to welcome UKTL as our newest Corporate Partner.

New Fellow: Congratulations to Kevin Paige on achieving Fellowship of the ITP.

Looking Ahead

2025 has been a year of significant progress for the Institute. From launching new member services and expanding learning opportunities to growing our apprenticeship provision, welcoming new Fellows and Corporate Partners, and receiving industry recognition for our training programmes, we have continued to strengthen our position at the heart of the telecommunications profession.

A huge thank you to our members, Fellows, Corporate Partners, volunteers, apprentices and supporters who have contributed to another fantastic year. We look forward to building on this momentum and making 2026 even more successful.
